People searching for day and night pain relief patches often want options for different times or sensations. The package name, however, does not replace Drug Facts. A smart purchase begins with what each patch contains and how the label says to use it.
What does “day and night” mean?
It may describe different patch types packaged together. The official D-Wellness Day & Night label identifies one cooling patch and one heating patch. It does not mean one must be worn during the day and the other automatically worn while sleeping.
Choose based on ingredients, warnings, and preferred sensation—not time of day alone.
What is in each D-Wellness option?
Cooling patch
The cooling patch contains camphor, menthol, and methyl salicylate. People prone to allergic reactions from aspirin or salicylates should ask a doctor before use, as directed by the label.
Heating patch
The heating patch contains capsaicin and menthol. Warmth can feel different from person to person. Never add a heating pad or other external heat source to intensify the sensation.
More sensation does not necessarily mean more relief. Read our menthol vs. capsaicin comparison.
Can you sleep with a pain relief patch?
Do not treat the word “night” as permission for unlimited overnight wear. D-Wellness directions say to remove the patch after no more than eight hours and apply no more than three to four times daily. Plan your schedule so you can follow that limit.
If you normally sleep longer than eight hours, cannot monitor your skin, or the patch may fold or remain under pressure, ask a health professional before using it during sleep.
Seven things to compare before buying
- Ingredients: identify the actives in each patch.
- Sensation: decide whether you want cooling, heating, or both options.
- Count: confirm how many of each type are included.
- Size: check whether the intact patch fits the intended flat area.
- Wear time: follow Directions, not marketing language.
- Warnings: review allergies, skin condition, heat, bathing, and age.
- Total value: compare cost per patch, shipping, and current terms.
When extra caution is needed
Do not use D-Wellness on wounds or damaged skin, with a heating pad, if allergic to any ingredient, or under a tight bandage. Avoid eyes and mucous membranes. Stop use at least one hour before bathing or showering and do not use immediately afterward.
Stop and ask a doctor about redness, itching, rash, excessive irritation, burning, swelling, or blistering. Also ask if the condition worsens, lasts more than seven days, or clears and returns within a few days.
Combination kit or one patch type?
A combination kit can be practical when you want access to both sensations and can follow each component’s label. A single-type package may be simpler when you already know which ingredient you tolerate and prefer. Either way, check that the package is sealed and Drug Facts is readable.

Before the first application
Review what an OTC pain relief patch is and how to apply one correctly. Keep the original package so the directions, lot, and manufacturer information remain available.
